LECTURERS' PERCEPTION TOWARDS RESEARCH IN PROFESSION : A CASE STUDY AMONG LECTURERS FROM THE ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, POLYTECHNIC TUANKU SULTANAH BAHIYAH, KULIM KEDAH


ABSTRACT

The aim of the study was to explore the perception of lecturers towards research in their profession. The sample for this research were 48 lecturers from the Electrical Engineering Department of Polytechnic Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah, Kulim, Kedah. The sample consist of 48 respondents. Based on the study the participant appeared to have a positive perception towards research but they were not confident in doing research. They are well aware of the significance of research for promotion but are reluctant due to various barriers such as committee and administrative task, lack in writing and analytical skills.
